INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION INTERDISCIPLINARY (3IT) SHERBROOKE UNIVERSITY IS AN ENGINE AND A SHOWCASE INNOVATIVE PRACTICES OF UNIVERSITY RESEARCH AND INDUSTRIAL, ECONOMICALLY AND SOCIALLY RESPONSIBLE TO ACCELERATE THE TRANSFER TECHNOLOGY IN STRATEGIC SECTORS, INCLUDING MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIES IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND COMMUNICATION IN TRANSPORT AND ENERGY.

Work

As part of an industrial partnership, we are looking for 2 students at M.Sc.A. Development of a thermal management system with heat pipe for Li-ion batteries in electric vehicles. The operating temperature of Li-ion batteries has a direct impact on safety, aging and performance of electric vehicles. Different approaches, including air cooling and liquid cooling are currently used in electric vehicles. However, a reliable, safe and lightweight system is still needed for future generations of electric vehicles. Through this collaboration, we will work together to address the challenges in the design and manufacture of innovative thermal management system to meet the needs of the next generation of electric vehicles, considering the eventual commercialization of aspects of this system.

Candidate profile:

The successful candidates for the post should be autonomous, flexible, able to work in teams and be pro-active. A strong interest in heat transfer, fluid mechanics, materials, computer simulations and design is required.
